How long does it take to get a tax return? We sent in a paper return this year, it seems to be taking a while

This is the first year that we have submitted our taxes on paper. My father in law, former accountant, helped us with our return which included business taxes. Since it was all done on paper, we mailed the forms instead of filing electronically. It is now June 11, and we filed mid April.

  1. Ignore the previous poster, once again they answer a Canadian tax question with a US tax answer.

You can go to my account from CRA's site to check if they've processed your return.

  2. You should be getting your return soon, however, if there are any issues with any of the claims you made, CRA might hold it and send a "preassessment" letter first, asking you for more information before they can process it. If you don't hear anything in a week or so, I would call them at 1-800-959-8281. They can confirm it has been received and whether it has been processed yet ( and if yes, when it was mailed out ). They should also be able to check if there were any issues.

I am assuming this was your 2007 return. If you filed other years then it can take longer.
