How long does it take to get a work permit for Canada and how long does it last?

Hi there,

Im Thinking of moving to canada by getting a skilled worker work permit,

If I go to Canada and get a job offer how long will it take for my work permit to come through?..also realistically how long could i remain in canada for?

My wife and children would be coming with me and i believe she gets an open work permit as the wife of a skilled worker, is this the case?

Go on line to Citizenship and Immigration Canada and they should be able to answer your questions there. If not contact your nearest Consulate. I came to Canada 30+ years ago (to the Maritimes) and haven't regretted it once. Wonderful place for children and the people really friendly.
