A flight from Nashville to Rome will probably be a 12hr+ flight, though I'm not sure specifically. I know that when I leave for Rome it will be late one night and when I arrive in Rome it will be mid-afternoon, and nashville isnt far from where we're departing from.

No direct flights - I flew Nashville - JFK (2.5 hours), then JFK - Rome (about 8 hours).  Coming back you are going against the air currents, so it takes a couple hours more.  FYI, if you are flying Alitalia like I did, they were at least an hour late taking off for each flight we had, so be prepared!
