  1. My dear,

You cannot walk from the CDG airport. You'll have to take a cab, or the bus shuttle and the metro, or the express railway and the metro.

Overall, it will take you about 1 hour. First you will have to clear the airport. Depending on the crowd, getting a cab at the cab station may take anywhere between a couple of minutes to 15 minutes. Then there is alway traffic between 7:30 and 9:30 am. If you come from the US, you will likely arrive at around this time, so your cab ride might take you anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes to get to inner Paris. Then it depends on the itinerary your driver selects to take. He can drive along the inner ring road, eastwards then southwards, before entering Paris to drive to the Bastille area (where your hotel is located). Alternately, he could choose to enter Paris at "Porte de La Chapelle" (Chapel Gate) or "Porte de Clignancourt" (Clignancourt Gate) and try to get to Bastille using the large boulevards. In either case, it will take you between 20 minutes and 45 minutes to get to your final destination from the moment you reach the ring road.

Best case scenario: you get a cab immediately, traffic is light, and it's a breeze to reach Bastille -- 40 minutes.

Worst case scenario: it takes 15 minutes to get a cab, then you get stuck in a huge traffic jam on the highway, then it's h**l to go to your destination inside Paris -- 70-80 minutes.

  2. The distance is 26.4 KM. Driving time in the absence of traffic is 27 minutes.
