Everytime I double clutch I have trouble upshifting and downshifting, how long does it take to get good at it?

  1. Why are you double clutching?  No one has done this for fifty years. That is what the syncromesh gears in the transmission are for.

  3. Some people pick it up in a few hours, others take days or even weeks to "get it".

    Mostly, it's realising that although the truck may be a big, tough piece of machinery you have to practice "feeling" through your foot on the clutch pedal when the cogs are ready to slide in without graunching.

    Try and reach out through your foot (yeah, I know it sounds crazy!) and find an empty lot to practice, practice, practice.

    Once you get it, it will be second nature.

  4. it is all about matching the eng rpm to the speed  to match the  next gear when you shift. also try shifting  at lower rpm  around 2500.
