How long does it take to get good at skimboarding? How about surfing?

I know that every one learns at a differant pace, but i'm just asking how long you would think it would take an average person, because i am moving to san diego this fall and am interested in doing these new sports!

Too get very good at skim boarding you have to practice a lot, I've been skim boarding for 2 summers and I can cut back and get air and do tricks.

I can't give a good estimate on surfing.

surfing takes awhile to just get up but  i would say 4 months if u stay out there every day

skim boards are very tricky to learn and it hurts bad when u fall hard but it would take 6months to get the hang of it and not fall

the kid above me exaggerates

you can learn to skimboard just riding in like an hour

like i can do a bunch of tricks and I barely ever do it

surfing i learned to stand up in a few tries and i could move around the board but not turn and i wouldnt get it everytime

(i took one surfing lesson like 2 hours to be able to do that)
