My beautiful cat just died after suddenly becoming ill. I keep seeing him in the corner of my eye or expecting to hear him meow to be let inside but of course it isn't going to happen. I am just so sad and wonder how long before I will be normal again?

  1. It can vary, just like the death of person.  It depends on your relationship with the cat.  You are so used to having her around, and now she isn't there.  You may move on quickly, or you may grieve for a while.  Either is normal and natural.  Emotions aside, you have had a major change in your routine (not hearing her meow, not having to feed her or change the litter box anymore) and it will take some adjustment.

  2. I don't think there is a particular time frame. You will always remember and love this pet. Getting another cat will help. It can't be the old cat, but in time it will become easier.

I lost a 12 week old puppy last Sunday. I cry every time I talk about her. I went and got another one yesterday. She can't replace the lost pup, but she is very cute. I also have cats.

You will know when it is time for you.

    My thoughts are with you.

  3. I'm sorry about your loss...  When I was younger, I had a puppy die from a snake bite.  About 2 years later me and my sister found his collar and burst out into tears.  The truth is, the more attached you were to your pet, the longer it is going to take you to get over him.  Eventually, you'll realize that he died and you wont see him in the corner of your eye anymore... all that will be left is warm feelings and cozy memories of your pet.  Some people find it easier to get over the death of a pet by getting a new one about 2 months after.

Hope your healing process will be quick to come about

  4. It depends on how close you are with your pets. I could tell that you must be very close with your pet. In any case, I hope you'll be back as normal again. And one more thing, Brace up, girl...=)

  5. about 1 week to about 1 month

unless you buy another cat the same and call it the same name
