Am planning a journey to Annecy from Calais, is it best to book the ferry the day before checking in at my accomodation in Annecy and the day after I check out as ive heard it takes a very long time to get there. Please can anyone give me an idea of how long it takes. Also does anyone know any good, cheap campsite in Annecy?

  1. Just as an aside, Annecy is my favorite little city in all of France.  It is so worth going to see.  But as someone put it, the best way to get to Annecy is to fly into Switzerland, it is extremely close.  I don't know if the roads have changed, as I haven't been there in quite awhile, and the roads there were awful.  But the city is absolutely wonderful, it is an old city built on a canal and is just one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I hope you love it as much as I did.  I hope they haven't updated it and changed the atmosphere.

camp sites are easy to find. If you drive around the lake in either direction you'll see signs to camp sites. Some are big for families, with pools etc., and others (further from the lake in my experience) and more secluded and suitable for couples or people wanting a quiet time.
