  1. Often a better site than nationalrail is the English version of the German Deutsche Bahn website - which offers European (including British) timetable searching and is generally accurate.

    Anyway to give some idea, if you leave London St Pancras at 55 minutes past the hour, say 11.55, the journey takes 1 hour and 40 minutes with no changes, and the train stops only at Leicester on the way.

    If you leave at 30 minutes past the hour, the journey is 1 hour and 56 minutes with no changes, and the train stops at Luton, Bedford, Wellingborough, Kettering, Market Harborough, Leicester, Loughborough and Beeston on the way.
