  1. usually they feel a heck of a lot better over night. they will definitely fit your mouth better after a night or two. but as far as your speech.... that might be a little impaired for a few days to a week. . . , it gets better , i promise (:

  2. It usually takes a few days to get really used to them.   Here are some tips to quicken the process--

Wear them as much as possible,   people who wear them for a while,  take them out for half a day,  and wear them for a little while again,  take much longer,  or never get used to them.   Take them out to eat and brush,  and be a trooper,  try to keep them in as much as possible.

Secondly,  it IS hard to talk the first day,  but by the end of this week,  if you are a trooper and keep them in,  I promise people won't even be able to hear that you have them.   Your tongue needs to learn how to talk while sharing it's space with your retainers.    Turn on the radio and sing out loud,  this will give you practice pronounciating with them in.

New shoes always feel strange the first day or two,  then you hardly know they're there,   retainers are the same way,   they feel weird now,  but if you keep them in,  in a couple  days,  you won't even be aware you have them.

Be  a trooper,  you worked too hard getting through braces to wimp out now.....it just takes a couple days.
