How long does it take to get your Captains License when you are working offshore?

i am currently working offshore on an OSV... as an AB ( Able Bodied Seaman)

and i am wondering how much sea time it will take to get my captains license?

and also what are the levels of the license?

360 days gets you a 25 or 50-ton, 540 for a 100-ton, I believe.

180 days as an AB unlimited gets you a 500-ton mates' if you can pass the exam and take the classes. 1080 days gets a 3rd mate's, if you can handle the schooling.

It takes some time.  Sea time is a significant part of the qualification, even if you have completed all the academic work.   Different jurisdictions have different requirements.  You need to start getting qualifications through a marine school.  Here are a couple of links to get you started.  Best of luck with your plans.
