  1. It will take a few years to get a good score where you can buy a car with a good interest rate. A lot longer than a few years if you want to buy a house. I got a 700 score after 1 1/2 years with 2 credit cards and one co-signed car loan.


  2. In some cases, it can take as little as 90 days: if you have a well-paying job, and a coule of credit cards (even with LOW limits), you'll soon be on your way. Of course, it depends on what you mean by "up". :) From zero to okay takes about 90 days (I've had to do this three times: when I first came to Canada, when I moved to the States, and then again when I moved back to Canada after 10 years in the US) - but like the other answer said, a bit longer (at least 6 months to a year or more) if you want to go buy a house or something like that.
