  1. Hello,

(ANS) I think it largely depends upon the variety you intend to grow, some varieties are much faster gowning than others. Some varieties can grow in a few short months x3 or x4 months whilst others are much slower growing and obviously take much longer x6months.

i.e. new potatoes my guess is a short growing time, whilst potatoes to be used for jacket potatoes would take far longer.

    Ivan.

  2. This will depend on the type ("early", "late" etc) type of potato that you are growing - and on the weather.

You can grow small potatoes bought from a greengrocer, "egg size" is recommended, but it is better to grow seed potatoes from a garden centre.

Growing times, depend of your local climate. Generally, plant April(ish) and harvest August/September(ish).

If you go to a garden centre then the staff should be able to give more precise information about the variety of potato you intend to grow. If you get seed potatoes pre-packed from a "superstore" then you may have to rely on the instructions on the packet!

  3. from as little as 6 weeks for small new potatoes to well past once the flowers have grown.

I usually put my 1st batch in 3rd weeked of june, I now have the first small salad potatoes to pull up, in 3-4 weeks i will have jersey size new pots and today i plant another batch up (in pots as well) and these will see me right through autumn.

6-15 weeks depending on which size, keep the damp, don't let them dry out and make sure you have plenty of eyes on your seeds. The mre eyes the bigger the crop.
