  1. putting in an application AFTER you get married ALWAYS takes longer than before getting married.

She should have applied for a fiance visa then she would probably be in USA legally already by now.

If she applied in Dec 2007 - it may take as much as 2 years or more. She MUST be patient.

  2. It takes about 13 months with the aid of an immigration lawyer. It takes about 18 to 24 months if your friend tried to do the paperwork themselves. Your friend is almost due for the second packet of forms that should arrive any day now in the mail. That second packet requires more fees and paperwork that must be completed within 45 days. Once the government has sent your friend a letter that they accept the second packet, the woman is free to stay as long as she wants in the USA until the visa is approved or rejected. She still will not have a Green Card, she cannot work in the USA, nor get a Social Security number, nor get a driver's license with a Spouse visa. The American man is financially responsible for the woman for 10 years even if the marriage should fail.

  3. Yes,

Deport illegals, and keep the dream alive.

  4. Maybe it is because of time difference. It's not Dec, 2008 in USA yet.

  5. All good things take time and patience.  It has only been a matter of months now....   Many, many people wait years.
