I was looking at program, and you can go for language classes for as long as you want. Most programs are about 20-25 hours a week. How many weeks do you think it takes to be fluent in Japanese. You can go for 1-8 weeks or longer.

  1. It depends on how consistent you study and try to apply what you learn to everyday life.

Also are you starting from a complete beginner level?

Well, if you take the program and give it an honest effort, then about 3 or so months you may be able to express what you want to say in Japanese.  But listening and reading and writing is a different matter.

  2. I heard Japanese is a pretty easy language to learn. It takes up to about 6 months to SPEAK Japanese fluently when you are in Japan(from what I heard). Of course you have to be dedicated to learn the language. When you're at Japan try speaking in the Japanese you know already and listen to others talking like on TV.

  3. First I studied Japanese at the university. Then I went to Japan. From then it took me 6 years to understand the news on Japanese TV.

  4. If you live in Japan, you'll be forced to learn. It's easier more extensive than taking a course in America. Go for it.

    You'll be speaking nicely after 25 hours a week for 8 weeks. That's 200 hours. :)
