  1. well it depends how hard you work.

i swim about 2 hours each day but you

have to work up to it. so start out as an

hour at a day. and keep trying. Im guessing

if you started at an hour or an hour and

a half probably around one year.

    Hope I helped!

    (:

  2. to be really good you have to learn it for about a year and practice practice practice

  3. Depends on the person but a few months should be enough (5 or 6 months)

  4. It depends on how quick you pick it up.  This is different for every person.  On average its about 4 1/2 months I'd say.  If you want to learn it quicker put more time into trying to learn to swim.

  5. it depends on the person. How old they are? How quick they learn? Do they fear the water?

For me it took me about 2 weeks to learn to swim but I was 4 or 5 and my parents, and aunts and uncles have all been lifeguards and/or been involved with water. I follow the family line now and I'm a lifeguard and I teach swimming lessons.

  6. Well, if you just want to learn to swim so that when you get yourself into a dangerous situation you can save yourself, it shouldn't take too much time. But if you want to learn swimming  for improving your skills it'll take much longer as you need to learn all four swimming strokes (just like me). I started swimming when I was 2 years old.

    =)

  7. If you mean just to be able to swim a certain style, maybe a few weeks. But if you want to swim WELL, in good form and with speed and with less effort, it may take several months. It depends on the individual and your instructor, too.

  8. teaching you how to swim only takes a day or two. being able to swim properly depends on how much you practice and the effort you put into it. you will need to learn how to control your breathing and blow bubbles from you nose. also there are different types of strokes, some more easier than others. cheers

  9. 2 days but acutal pro swimming? like 2 months with a coach

  10. it really depends on how far you want to go w/ swimming but normally just a few mounths 5 or 6.

  11. I learned how to survive in water in a day. Because I was a total wimp as a kid, so my friends gave me a life-jacket and said "we're just going to toss you in to the deep end ok?" I said yes... foolishly. When they tossed me, I discovered the life preserver was broken, and they wouldn't help me... so I learned how to swim lol. b******s... but it was funny and it worked. I was never afraid to go back in deep water and I learned how to swim quickly by watching others.

  12. I signed up with Team In Training to do the NYC Triathlon.  I've never had a swim lesson in my life - but I could do the dog paddle.  They will get us to an acceptable triathlon freestyle in just over 4 months. And I know tons of people who went through the exact same training last year and finished the 1mile swim looking pretty good!
