My grand-grand father was italian, he and my grandfather (born in Italy) emigrated in 1882 from Trento (North Italy). At those days the region was part of Austrian-Empire... My Grand-grandfather, my grandfather and some relatives are now registered at the Anagrafe Italiano (Civil Registration Office)... My father and I started the necessary stepts to get the citizenship on December of 2005 and until now we have not get any answer, when we call to the embassy they say we dont need to call and they would inform to us as soon as they have some answer from Italian Authorities...

  1. this is way too long to get your citizenship :-(

call the embassador of Italy in the US or email him

there is no way they should make you wait this long

    # make a letter to the Embassador to the Italian embassy near you and ask some questions #

good luck ! i have never heard of it taking so long

    Anagrafe Italiano (Civil Registration Office)

    write to them as well

  2. Official Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs site, the page about citizenship (alas, in Italian only):

    http://www.esteri.it/eng/5_30_208_318.as...

    or here http://www.myitaliancitizenship.com/inde... (in English)

If your grandfather is (was) an Italian citizen, it would be easier.

Still, you need to reside in Italy for at least three years (instead of ten).

I don't know how old are you, you can get further facilitations if you're underage.
