Before you just had to go there (forget the name of the place) in London and you'd get it there and then (or get it re-newd) but things have apaprently changed since then... though it was only a few years back.

Is it a long process?

  1. 6 weeks ish

  2. If you go to Liverpool they do it there and then, but it costs about £70.

  3. Mine only took just over 1 week, but  the closer the summer months come ie July and Aug it can take up to six weeks and sometimes even longer.

  4. they didn't send me my new passport for 3 months!

  5. You can still make an appointment with the passport office in Victoria but it costs an arm and a leg (my DH had to do this because he forgot to do it!) and you have to wait around for hours!  Best just to fill in the form at the post office and send it off.  Mine came back in 3 weeks but it can take longer in the summer as more people are thinking about holidays.  I would allow 8 weeks to be on the safe side.

  6. You can apply by post, you should allow 6 weeks although mine came in 4 weeks a few weeks back

If you want it the same day you have to visit the passport office, it costs more but thet do it on the day

  7. Posted mine and was back in just over a week

  8. If you're willing to pay for the service and visit the passport office in person, they can do it in one day.

However, if you use the standard service, it will take anywhere from about 10 days to about 6 weeks (from posting the application to receiving the paspsort). This depends on the time of year and how busy they are.
