You can avoid going through Brisbane (capital of Queensland) if so wished, by diverting over Gateway Bridge and along Gateway Arterial Road, which should get you there in about two hours. Perhaps delay on Gateway Arterial if there's a prang-up at peak hours (7-9am & 4-6pm weekdays).
