  1. You might, MIGHT be able to do it in two weeks if you can sail 24hrs/day, and can maintain 10 knots. The ICW starts just 25 miles south of Sandy Hook, NJ, and ends at Key West. The part  from Portland, or where ever in Maine will have to be outside.

The total mileage is just about  1500. And you will probably want to stop along the way.

There are lots of boats that winter in FL and crews take them north for their owners, and the boats summer in the north and in September the crews take them south again. Gets busy in the ICW during these periods. Watch out you don't get run over in the stampede.

  2. with out knowing the size and type of vessel and the hours your intending to sail and your level of experience I've heard of people doing it in as little as 2 weeks and in the case of Robert Bruce who restored the Queqeg a 44' ketch and zero sailing experience he took 9 months but most vessels of 40' can do so in a little less than 4 weeks from Portsmouth to ft. lauderdale if you sail 12 or so hours a day and make no less than an average of 7 knots

  3. all depends on sea condition and size really matters enjoy its good fun a really a good way to find out the boats ca rector
