  1. It just depends. At some shops, you'll be in and out in 15 mins. because you won't like anything.

At others, you'll spend at least an hour just making a stack of dresses you want to try on, and another 1-2 hours trying them on and looking in the mirror.

  2. Id say make the appointment for an hour but you can stay longer if needed or leave early if you aren't finding anything.

  3. No, take at least 2 hours. You don't want to rush things.

And bring a friend or two along with you and have them check out bridesmaid dresses as well!!

You can always use the input, it helps A LOT!

  4. make it fun

    relaxing

enjoy a meal or snack in between fittings

  5. What!  The salespeople @ the store will suggest dress after dress after...   you get my drift.  I've known several ladies that spent @ 1/2 a day (4-6 hours) at the store/shop looking at or trying on dresses.  My wife spent 2 trips at about 5 hours each before she found hers.

  6. make an appt at the dress shop.  But I wouldn't put a time limit on trying on gowns.  They may not have in the store what you have seen in a catalog or online. And they may have some gowns you like that are in the store that you didn't know you would like.

When I tried on dresses I went to Davids Bridal (horrible service btw).  I made an appt.  When I got there, they only had like 3-4 dresses of the 10 I wanted to try on. Then ones that I did like, they had them onlin huge sizes.  No offense to anyone. But I got a size 4 dress and I was trying on size 8 and up dresses, so you can't get a clear idea of how you actually look in the dress.  My maid of honor went with me, and actually helped me find a dress in the store I didn't consider in the beginning.

Don't give yourself a time frame.  Take your time.  You don't want to be disappointed. Plus you might find 5 dresses at one stop and only 1 at another.  It takes a while to try the dresses on.  Most are heavy and it can get exhausting taking them off and putting them on.

  7. It really does depend. I went on to the website of the shop I was going to and printed off several dresses I liked. When I went in I handed my consultant my print-offs, she pulled the dresses and I tried them on. I feel in love with the second dress I tried on and after purchasing it, we were done about an hour after we got there!

I wouldn't double book different shops in one day. It may make you feel rushed and you don't want to make a hasty decision. Good luck to you!

  8. Well I'd set about an hour and a half. The half hour is time for you and the  associate to discuss what it is you're looking for and an hour is a good time for you to try on what you two decide fits your criteria. You don't want to try on too many and get burned out, you want to try on enough to get a good idea of what looks good and what doesn't. If you have a good associate with you, then an hour should be fine for the first go-round.

  9. That really depends on the bride.

For me, it takes about an hour just to sort through the hundreds of dresses the shop has and about another hour to try each one on.  Remember that dresses can be very complicated.  You'll also want to look at yourself from every angle and take some pictures in them.  Honestly, I would maybe schedule a day to go through each store you have in mind to see if there are any dresses that you would even bother buying.  Then narrow it down to your top 3 or top 5 stores and schedule either one store a day or two stores a day.  It's an important decision...and an expensive decision so you want to take your time.

  10. Typically, you only schedule the start time. You might find you need 15 minutes one place, and 3 hours at another. I know the first place I went (David's Bridal), they had absolutely nothing for me, and I was out of there really quickly. I did spend quite a bit of time at the shop I eventually bought from.

  11. You will need more than an hour, but first i suggest you look on line at each boutiques collections to give an idea of what and how much you like.  If you re a real , princessy-i've-been-dreaming-of-this-for... bride , schedule atleast 4 hours , that way you can try on everything!

  12. A long time since you want to see yourself from every single angle.

  13. At first i was told I had 45 mins to try on dresses, and I thought, god how will i manage that!  But the folk at the shop let me stay for nearly 2 hours and I got the dress that i wanted.  I dont think u need appointments, alot of people just turn up, my friend who was engaged went into a wedding shop for a laugh with a pal to try on wedding dresses and landed up with "the one" lol dont rush it, have a good time :)
