  1. yes since you're barely starting the best thing is to go for small parts in commercials or as an extra on a television show or movie then once you have more experience you can actually get a speaking role and then go up and up and higher until where you want to be

  2. just take whatever they give you don't have the mindset that you're only going to act in movies because what if you never land a movie role...you will be unhappy, so just be happy with whatever comes your way.

  3. This question is kind of like asking, "How long is a piece of string?"

However, where that question has a logical answer (twice as long as from the middle to the end), yours isn't nearly so neat and tidy...  It definitely depends on your acting ability and your patience.  I've had several friends in Hollywood and most have said that they had to go to auditions like mad to even catch a single break as a non-speaking extra.  However, there's also that rare person who goes for their first interview ever and gets a speaking part on a television show for a couple of episodes.

Agents definitely do help from what I've heard, but there are a lot of people out there looking to do the exact same thing that you are.  It's probably not feasible to jump into an acting role on your first audition, although it is possible (the gal who plays Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter flicks did it).  It would definitely be a wise idea to head into any casting call carrying the old adage of "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" in your head.  That way, if you don't get a role you aren't too disappointed, and if you do get it you'll really have something amazing to celebrate.

That being said, I would be wary of any agent who guarantees X-amount of jobs, interviews, auditions, etc. in the first day, week, month, or whatever.  Guarantees of anything like that in businesses like acting and art are usually not worth the paper they're written on.  It will probably be much better for you in the long run if you can find an agent who cares about your well-being and your career more than quotas and numbers.

    Best wishes and good luck!

  4. uh?... You start acting as soon as you hear "Action"! Joke.....Think about it, you see kids of ALL ages in movies and those are not Adults with 5 years in commercials, 3 years on stage, 2 years in made for tv movies.  You either have it or you don't.  Very few are just Discovered, its about getting a chance or break. Until your Break comes along you work and work and work, get your face out there until that  one part falls in your lap. Good luck and stop thinking about how to get there and just start heading there.

  5. How do you know you are getting an agent?

    You want to?

Or they are literally signing you...

You get whatever you can get at first. You just audition and audition and audition. You might not ever get anything.  You don't "jump into movies." If you are right for a role, you will get it. That does not guarantee you will ever be in another movie.
