so my question is, is it normal to have 1 picture, and have it take like 4 months to finish, even if its not like something that would take forever to do? i just wanna know if any other artists take a while to finish their artwork, and if thats normal.. because for some reason it takes me like a month to finish each individual work, and its not something where it'd take a while either..:/

  1. I know that even when I start on a simple drawing like a face, if I can;t get something to look right (i.e. a mouth, a nose) I'll get frustrated and set it down and walk away. Usually, it takes me a month to get exactly the way I want it. I have a friend who took a full year to do a single charcoal drawing, but another friend who takes and hour to do a full color landscape. It all depends on what you're drawing and what your drawing style is. Even then, everyone has their own pace.

  2. Art is subjective, and it never will be finished, because a true artist will never be satisfied with their own work!

  3. What ever you do that has the best result is the best way to do it, just draw or paint, sketch, what ever you do, do it in the way that you like doing it. Art is an expression of yourself so it can be done how ever you want.

I do more cartoon type drawings so mine don't take that long, but I admire that yours do take a while, it's cool.

  4. It doesn't really matter by the time. Some people are born to draw very well and quick. Some aren't born too well in drawing fast. There is no such thing in perfection in art because art is the way people see it through. Like people say nothing is perfect. Art isn't always perfect. Artists work at their own pace to complete what they see in their minds or eyes.

  5. well, depends on the size. i sketch in my little sketch book thats lyk 4X8in or something and that only takes me like 30 minutes if i do all the shading. but if its bigger, it takes probably takes me hours if i do shading.

but then, thats me. i dont like to leave a sketch unfinished unless i want to on purpose. but for u that might be different. (assuming u use all that time to add details) its nice to know someone really cares about their art. ^_^

BTW, your sketches r probably better than mine anyways since u spend much more time on them
