Really depends where you go. If you wait until the holidays, give up now..

Check your local post office. Some other little stores do them too. There's a little drug store down the street that offers them for 1/4 price the post office charges.

Since the post office is government though, they would be more likely to give you an accurate wait time. And don't forget that getting one is on an appointment schedule unless they're really slow.

well i just got mine in the mail and i applied for one 5 weeks ago they say it takes up to 8 weeks but they just exagerate the time so they wont have people calling themm and clogging up the phone lines if it takes 6-7 or theyre really busy

Should not take more than 4 weeks...

But plan on longer if your planning a trip...

i think it depends on where you are and where you go to get it.  generally a month maybe.  my husband went to LA to get his and i think got it in about 2 -3 weeks but if he got it here in San Diego it would of taken longer

It depends on how much you are willing to pay..  You can get it with in a week or two if you pay more and have a plane ticket.

You can also make an appointment in L A CA and get it faster.
