  1. With the technology available right now, it will correct nearsightedness, astigmatism, and farsightedness until between the ages of 38-42, at which time, 99% of people develop what is called presbyopia,a condition (obviously age related) where the eye starts losing it elasticity and won't stretch properly to allow light in. Then, the option is reading glasses, because presbyopia mocks farsightedness, where you have trouble seeing up close. Also, there is a procedure called "monovision Lasik",  where the surgeon corrects for one distance vision eye, and one up close vision eye. This usually comes after fitting with contacts in the same fashion and determining if it works for you. Hope I helped.

  2. I had laser surgery in 2003. I could not see anything without glasses before my surgery. I still have 20/20 vision, but was told that due to the natural aging of my eyes I would probably need reading glasses around 40.

  3. i know a guy who had it done 10 years ago to correct his vision. He was legally blind, but after surgery, he did not need glasses. He still does not wera them to this day and is sees fine. has almost perfect vision.

    hope that helps.

  4. In theory, laser correction is permanent.  However, there is no way to predict how your eyes might change whether or not you have the surgery.  If your eyes would have changed anyway, LASIK is not likely to stop them from changing.

Generally, once you are past the age of 21 or so, your vision does not change nearly as quickly as when you are younger.  So if you have LASIK after the age of 21, you are more likely to have stable vision.

  5. Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
