  1. You are old enough and you are required to swim in different depths of water.

  2. For Red Cross Lifeguard Training, you must be 15 years old by the date of the last class and the class is 30-35 hours long depending on the instructor.  There are other companies that certify lifeguards.  Some of them require that you be 16 years old.

  3. To get to your NLS level you need your bronze cross first. The age pre-requisite is 13 so you're in the clear there. Now before you take your bronze cross, you need your bronze med. Some places offer a Bronze Cross + Bronze Med + Standard First Aid with CPR-C as a crash course, which takes 40 hours. Then you have to get your NLS, which also takes 40 hours. You must be 16 to get your NLS.

In short: 80 hours minimum, minimum age for NLS is 16, but you can get your cross at 15.

  4. you are definatly old enough :)

and it usually takes about 5 or 6 times

until you are a qualified lifeguard

  5. I myself am a lifeguard. I'm not sure of the law in other states, but The Red Cross allows lifeguards to begin the class at 15 I believe. The class I took was two weeks long, in about two to three hour sessions each week day. It was a simple class for me, but might be a little more challenging for someone who doesn't have a decent background in swimming and first aid.

There are also other Lifeguarding classes that can be taken besides Red Cross, but that is the generally accepted training.

  6. It depends on where you are what you have to take

  7. You are old enough to go through lifeguard training.  Depending on where you take the course it could take different lengths.  when i was going through my lifeguarding course i had to go 6 Wednesdays   for 3 hours each session.  When i was looking a few places had it where you could do it in one weekend.  and one place you had to go 8 weeks 5 days a week for an hour each time.

    Hope this Helps!
