My boiler broke yesterday and i have no hot water or heating how long does my landlord legaly ahve to repair it ??

  1. I'm guessing that would depend a lot on just where on planet earth you might be.


  2. You need to give him written notice that he needs to fix it! In the winter in NYC they legally only have 48 hrs max! In NYC we call 311 to complain about our landlords...I don't know where you are, but if it is a larger city perhaps you have such a number or office you need to contact. The city will come out and fine him if he doesn't repair it ASAP! Hope that helps you out!

  3. You have to give your landlord notice in writing, if he doesn’t fix it in 7 days you can place your rent in the court.  If he doesn’t you can actually sue in small claims for restitution.

  4. Boiler ? I guessing you mean hot water heater. Furnance is for heat. So if your hot water heater is not working and you told your LL he should give you an answer of what he is doing as soon as you told him. Is he checking it out himself or sending a repair man out. In cases for a hot water heater to replace it they have 24hour service.
