  1. I just had root canal done couple weeks ago. The pain only lasted couple of hours.  I had a good dentist though because if you don't get the right one it can be a horrible experience. It is best to go to a specialist. I learned my lesson the second time around.  They numbed me up so good I felt nothing.  The first experience was a general dentist and he had no business even doing root canal but I had no idea and it was a HORRID experience.

  2. it takes as long as it takes for everthing to calm down your dentist should give you something for pain. If they do not send you home with something and you are in pain call to get a script.

  3. the pain can last up two six hours

  4. pain shouldnt last long  as nerve is still agitated any intake of air will aggrivate or placing tongue over affected area  try as you will  you will do it

try taking lukewarm salty water rinse mouth gently and discard

this will help clean any infection and sooth gums
