How long does pink eye usually last?

I went to the doctor today because one of my eyes is all goopy and red, kind of itchy. He told me I have pink eye, gave me some drops, but didn't tell me how long it'll take for me not to be contagious. I called in sick from work, but I'm hoping I'll be able to go back tomorrow. If the symptoms go away can I just assume I'm all better?

  1. It should be gone in 3 days, DON'T ITCH YOUR EYE THATS STICKY AND RED!

  2. you can go back to work in about 3 days. but dont count on going back by tommorow.

  3. Pink eye is really known as "conjunctivitis" and is easily spread..terribly contagious..  I would suggest that you wait no less than three days and maybe even four before you go back to work..your fellow workers will thank you...Good luck and great question.  If in doubt call your doctor's office and ask his nurse..I say that because maybe the meds he gave you work quickly...my advise was from when I had "pink eye"

  4. it should be gone in a couple of days but make sure you sanitze all of the things your touching so you or someone else in your family doesnt get pink eye again

  5. 2-3 day it should be better

  6. has someone been smoking some green flowers from amsterdam perhaps lmao

  7. did someone f**t on your pillow?

  8. It should be cleared up completely in a week to two weeks, and the symptoms should be gone in a day or two with the medication.  Pink eye, also called conjunctivitis, can show up when you least expect it, and it is very contagious, so you should probably take an extra day or two off work to make sure you don't pass it on to your colleagues.  They won't thank you for coming back early if you pass it on to them.

There is more than one type of pink eye, and how you treat it depends on the type. If it is bacterial you need antibiotic ointment or drops. There is no particular treatment for viral pink eye. If it is an allergy that is causing your difficulty you may need anti-inflammatory medication or antihistamines. Frequent hand washing is crucial to prevent spreading the virus or bacteria, depending on which type you have.   There is also something called CLARE, or contact lens induced acute red eye. Sleeping in contacts makes the eye more susceptible to inflammation/infection.
