  1. It depends on the curvature which the person is born in the first place and if any  treatment is given and how soon it is given.


  2. The more growth that a person has remaining increases the chances of scoliosis getting worse. As a result, the doctor measures height and weight for comparison with future visits and physical clues to the amount of growth remaining.

    If the curve stays below 40 degrees until growth is finished, it is not likely to get worse later in life. However, if the curve is greater than 40 degrees, it is likely to continue to get worse by 1-2 degrees each year for the rest of the person's life.


  3. You can't predict how fast your curve will increase or even "if" it will increase.  Here's a few situational guesses.

    You might be able to estimate based on how fast it has increased in the past.  You'll also be more likely to increase during a growth spurt, assuming that you have more growing to do.  Lastly, if you're wearing a brace, the rate of increase should slow down.
