  1. 10 years

  2. In most states 3 years........................

Generally, this type of ticket or violation will not cause your insurance premiums to rise. However, there are situations when it might raise your rates if you have a high frequency of being cited for this.

Some carriers may remove discounts for safe driver, which isn't technically raising your rates, but the bottom line is that your rates are higher.

  3. well in indiana it was 3 years. i just went through this. i couldnt get on the perfered plan cause of that stupid ticket. so in reality a $25 ticket ended up costing me a few grand!!! :( soon as the ticket went away last month i went down from $194 a month to 97 a month. best bet is to just check with your insurance
