Question:

How long does soup stay good in the fridge? Can I eat it 2 days later?

I bought a bowl of soup on Wednesday at lunch, but didn't end up eating it and put it in the fridge. It's in a styrofoam cup and covered pretty tightly with foil. There's no meat in it, but may be a little dairy.

Do you think it's okay to eat today?

Thanks!

  1. It will be fine since it was covered tightly. The most important thing is how long it was left out before you refrigerated it. If you didn't leave it out for hours before deciding not to eat it and put it in the fridge you are safe. Bon Appetit!

  2. Yes. As long as it was kept cool for most of the time you're fine. Also, if there's tomato in it the soup tends to go sour - but it isn't dangerous.

  3. Oh yes, it's still good.  Enjoy it!

  4. yes

  5. It should be fine usually thinks keep up to 4 days so you can still eat it. Just make sure it smells correct and doesn't look slimy.

  6. It should be ok, as long as it is covered tightly. Just look at it and smell it. Make sure it doesn't smell sour. Just reheat and enjoy.

  7. yes it is fine!

  8. ya its ok

  9. no

  10. I am a chef in Australia.  I have had soup in the fridge for up to four days.  When cooking for such a large quantity of people i am constantly making over 15 litres at a time.  I ave had no problems with (any) soup no matter the ingredients.  Of course this is only possible if the ingredients are fresh.

I use a 15 litre bucket with a seal tight lid but for home you can you something smaller.  Go to a hospitality supplier near you and ask for a food safe container you should not have a problem, it will probably cost about 5 dollars

of course you could always freeze it and then you can keep it for ages.
