How long does the Bird of Paradise plant flower for?

Question

And do you think it's a good balcony plant for an appartment that gets lots of sun? I'm after something hardy and eye-catching (don't like the succulent plants). Thanks.

well in trinidad they stay on the plant for up to three months,and they do love the sun,I know they flower for up to six months,but then I am talking about trinidad...you know what try it and if anything goes wrong..blame the lady from yahoo Q&A...me lol...but honest I think it will work...good luck...
