How long does the NDS battery charge last?

I just recently bought a Nintendo DS Lite. I read the manual and it says that the battery charge lasts for 15 hours max at the lowest brightness level. Then how come my NDS Lite only lasts for 8 hours even at the lowest brightness setting? (after being fully charged, the battery becomes low after 8 hours)

Does this mean that there's something wrong with it?

did u completely charge ur nds? it may have something wrong, but i know that closing the sound helps a lot. i use the highest brightness but with no sound. it lasts 10hours for me
