  1. I'm good for 1 hour 4x week. Consistancy is the key.

  2. no, I guess not. I did that a week ago and my muscles are still sore.

  3. That will depend on how good you want to get.  It will also depend on how fast you hit your balls.  If you analyze every shot and take time with practice swings every time, it will take you almost 2 hours to hit a large bucket of balls.  If you are working on muscle memory and hit ball after ball, 1 1/2 hour is plenty and you would have gone thru 250 balls.

Bottomline, it is not the time that counts.  Me and my golfer friends usually talk about how many buckets of ball did we hit at the range and how many times do we go per week.

  4. i spend about 1 hr. i warmup by stretching for about 5 mins. then i hit a few mid iron shots. Then i hit shots like i would on the course. Driver, 7 iron, wedge. Then 7 wood, 5 iron...etc...just imagining i'm playing a real hole. Thats with about 40 balls. then depending how i was hitting, i'd work on whichever i wasn't hitting well. i make myself hit atleast 3 good in a row, then move to short pitches and chips. Then i'm done. Sometimes i stay and putt, but not usually...BUT if you're going to spend over 1 hr at the range, i would spend atleast 20 mins putting and chipping.

  5. no..prolly 30 min to an hour at a time

  6. Serious players can be known to practice 8 hours a day. But if you are the average golfer looking to get to scratch, two hours a day will help you to become a pretty good player.  The only problem is that most people I know can't practice like that because they can't make to the range every day.

Per this, I recommend the new generation of off-course practice balls to suppliment your range time. almost golf makes a ball that has CO2 pressure inside and lets you practice around your yard, park, schoolyard or neighborhood. Usually, there is a location you can practice within a few hundred yards of your house. These balls give great feedback and are extremely accurate so you can tell when you are hitting consistant shots. I've found that I can now hit shots every day even if it's just hitting across the yard and working on my short game or going to the park with my 7 iron or woods.

    good luck

    Practice everyday.

  7. It all depends on which average you are asking about....Overall avg would probably be about 1/2 hour.

Avg for a person seriously working on their game......2-3 hrs.  followed by 2-3 hrs on the green putting and chipping.

  8. There are some things that factor in the amount of time an average person will spend at the range.  First and foremost is how serious are you about your game.  I've seen people come with a driver in hand and hit a small bucket and leave.  I've seen people goof off and try to hit 3 balls at once.  Those types don't spend more than 30 minutes at the range.  I spend on average an hour at the range when I go every time.  It used to be more when I practiced chipping and putting there as well, but I do that at home now.  I don't see a problem with spending 2-3 hours at the range by yourself.  You must be serious about your game.  I'd rather go by myself than with someone, but I don't mind someone tagging along.

  9. It is not normal to spend that much time smacking golf balls when the majority  of the scoring effort is confined to the short game -- short irons, trouble shots from rough and bunkers, chipping and putting. Use the driving range for a few warm up swings to loosen up and stretch the muscles, then work from the short irons up to the fairway woods varying your distance with each club. Now spend the balance of the time chipping and putting finishing with Phil's drill for short putts.
