  1. there is no average for any type of counseling. it is all based on each individual. as to what to expect to get out of it...what does one want to get out of it? generally when one attends therapy, they are in need of medication or simply require someone who does not know them initially to talk to. one does most of the talking and the counselor asks you questions to try and help you sort out your feelings and thoughts. In the end, if you believe and the therapist believes the sessions are worthwhile then one continues until they feel confident they no longer need to be there.

    good luck.

  2. there isn't a time line on counseling.  It depends on the client and the therapist.  It also depends on what the problem is.

  3. as an inpatient or as a course of therapy? it also depends on the severity and nature of the problem. Different people can expect to gain different things- there's no set benefit.
