My dog had his shot a few months ago. It must still be good or the kennel would not have taken him while I was on vacation. I came back Wednesday; it's friday now. He was tired his first day back as expected, but today he's coughing up flem. It is not a consistent cough.

  1. I am not sure about what the phlegm could be from, but a kennel cough is something dogs get every year. So if he just had it a few months ago, he should not have kennel cough. I suggest giving the vet a call.

  2. It lasts about 6 months.  However, just like the flu shot for humans, it is not 100% effective, and your dog can still get kennel cough even if they have been vaccinated.  In fact, one of my dogs growing up got kennel cough the one and only time we ever boarded him, and he had been vaccinated.  The vaccine helps, but is not entirely reliable.

  3. If it was the nasal drops 6 mos. The actual intramuscular is a year I think.

  4. Kennel cough vaccination is yearly but some places require it every 6 months. The vaccine should last 10-12 months and may not totally prevent the disease but does make it less ever if contracted.
