How long does the process of getitng legal papers take?

i was brought to the US through no say of my own.i was brought here when i was a little kid.i will graduate high school soon.i am one of those unwanted "illegals". i know that it is wrong to come here illegally,so i will man up and as soon as i get my high school diploma i will go back to my country to a university. after that,i will maybe come back to the US but LEGALLY. how long does that process of getting legal papers take?

it can take up to 13 years to get papers, it depends on the situation, for example, i'm still waiting, I need 5 more years
