We're trying to evict a summer sublet. He hasn't paid july's rent yet, and paid june's rent just 3-4 days ago. We've been following all the legal steps and the guy is so irresponsible, he didn't even bother showing up to the court hearing. On top of that, he is an alcoholic, messy, careless and forgets anything you tell him. He is also stubborn, and doesn't want to do anything besides "use our place to sleep" (His exact words). Now we served him with the eviction order from the judge and the last day for him to pay us is today. He doesn't even know he missed something, he's just carrying on like nothing happened. Tommorow my friend is gonna drop by the sheriff's office and drop off the order. Any idea how long it would take for the sheriff to decide? We live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

P.S. Is it perverse if I want to videotape him getting evicted to cheer us up? It has honestly been 3 months of h**l. I can't say I've enjoyed my summer so far one bit because of him.

  1. Don't record it, that could backfire, you could end up being sued for humiliation (depending on what you do w/it) just don't, save yourself the stress.

Anyway, he'll only have about 10 minutes, maybe 15 if the sheriff is in  a good mood.... once the eviction date is past, that's it, you're out.

  2. That will depend on the sheriff's workload. He might get to it that same day or it may take a week.
