How long does usps keep your package at the post office for pick up?

i have a package waiting their but im not gonna have the time to pick it up until next week or so. how long do they keep your packages their? what will happen to my package if it's their for a whole week? i don't want it sent to my house, and that's why i wanna go pick it up. but im scared that if it's their for to long their gonna do something to it. please help! thanks!

USualy about 10 days total. IF you call and ask for them to hold it longer, it shouldn't be a problem. OH and you usually DON'T get 3 notices. just the first and the Final notice. Thats it.

call the branch office where they asked you to pick it up, generally they give 3 notices before they return to sender
