I am gluing large strips (11/16" x 36" x 1 3/4") of pine to a large sheet (1/2" x 24" x 36") of pine board. I am gluing the strips on along the 11/16" edge of the strips.

The strips were slightly bowed and I straightened them when clamping/gluing, so when the clamps are removed, the glue will under pressure from the bowed wood, but the strips do not otherwise bear a load.

Drying is in the garage, and temps are in the 70s-80s and high humidity. No sunlight.

I know this glue requires 24 hours to fully cure, but can the clamps be safely removed before then? I need to glue more strips, and I am out of clamps.

  1. A min of 30 min.  Read the bottle!

  2. Normally it can be unclamped in half an hour, but in this situation (clamping out a bow) I would give it an hour.   The high humidity will tend to slow the set and cure.  You might test the squeeze out for softness.
