  1. I think it is universal for every country to make at least 6 month the validation time before allowing entry.

  2. Sure in Ireland they won't even notice!!

  3. While it is true that many countries do require that your passport have a validity date of 60-90 days after your intended date of departure, the prior posters are wrong in this case. If your travel is entirely within the European Union (EU) and you are a US citizen holding a US passport the passport need only be valid until the last day of your intended departure. If your plans change, however, and you extend your stay beyond the validity date, you will need to go to a US embassy or consulate to have your passport renewed which can take several days. Airlines and travel agents use an IATA data base known as Timatic which will tell you all passport and visa requirements for the countries yo uplan to visit. Northwest airlines provides a free user interface to this data on their website found here:  http://www.nwa.com/services/timatic.html  Happy traveling!

  4. 6 months on date of return

  5. If you are a UK citizen travelling to the Republic then you don't need a passport at all - a photocard driving licence will do - this has always been a quirk of UK/Ireland travel - the fact that you produce a passport at check-in at the airport doesn't mean you NEED one - you don't! (search out "Common Travel Area" on Wikipedia).   Otherwise, most other answers are correct - it is usually six months.

  6. 6 months until your planned end of trip should do.

  7. Its necessary to have the minimum of 6 motnhs on your apssport to go anywhere.

get a new passport 9 months before your expires, as it can take a few monts, depending on time of year.

its better to get one earlier than required, than loosing out and flying somewhere only to have to be sent back due to lack of time on your passport. i got refused my indian visa becase it was 6 months exactly!
