I'm 17 and I got my period when I was about 13. It usually lasts anywhere from 3-5 days. But mostly 3 or 4 days, only. Is this normal? Or should it be longer.

Also, THE PAIN. When it first starts... it feels so bad, like someone is stabbing me in the stomach, I swear! But, then it slowly starts to get better... Any advice?

The other day... I was on my bed crying and I couldn't barely move... It hurt that much.

    Tylenol too

Heating pads work too I heard

  3. Im the same way, my flow is really light and i last no more than 4 days, i use a heating pad for the first two days and i just lay in bed, it helps alot, it will prob help you too

  4. 3-5 days..

  5. periods should last seven days oh i know how you feel i got bad period pain too i used too get so bad i would blackout and puke and i mean a lot and what was worse was it would suddenly coouttauta the blue and i would puke even in classes i would puke i would puke anywhere i couldn't go out for dinner because of this it was so horrible i thought i was having cancer and no jokes i go blind i mean really blind no not blury but blind blind but only lasted a few minintes my mum recommend that i carry my own pack of panadols so that when it comes at the very first part of the pain take the panadols so that you don't have to suffer it will go away i had this problem for so long but now things are much better and i am happy that i can be in control if something does happen good luck.

  6. I'm exactly the same. Only 3 or 4 days of bleeding. But within the first hours of having it I get in really bad pain. Take painkillers as soon as possible. I wait for the pain to stop but last time I just took paracetamol and went to bed and it was over in a few hours. I've once had the pain for 8 hours once.

It's called Dysmenorhea and going on the pill can ease or stop the pain completely. It takes 3 months to work though.

Others ways to ease pain: warm bath, heating pad to sore area, drinking water, elevate legs, stay in a cool place, wear loose clothing, and try to relax.

  7. Mine last 6-7 days, and while I don't get much pain in the front I get lower back pain, similar to labor, which I think sucks worse. Ibuprofen is the only thing that helps me!

  8. well i started in june and it lasted 10days, next one was 8 days, and i started today =]

try some midol, aspirin, heat pack, BANNAHS!!!! they are great!

  9. Try some hot tea and a heating pad on your lower stomach. It doesn't completely relive the pain, but it helps.

  10. It can last anywhere from three days to a week. Mine, they last a week. Grr. As for the pain, you can take Midol or Pamprin. Heat pads help, too. Massage where the cramps are. Tense the area up, hold it in for a few seconds, and let it out. As for your back, just stretch back. Try not to think about it. Spend time with your friends. Reading really helps me. I plow through books during my period.

  11. I get severe cramps too. It sucks, but it's not out of the ordinary.

3 days is short, 5 is more average, but either way, it all depends on you. Mine last a week exactly.

  12. k yes its normal to last that long and you should try a magic bag and take some midol when you feel that pain and try to take a nap theey help soooo much

  13. Your situation is very similar to my 25 year old daughter, the length of your menstruation is alright, and it is normal to have pain, if you want you can put hot compress on your tummy, it will help the pain subsides. if you want you can take pain reliever just for that day.
