  1. Since I can't see the hatchling turtle, and have no idea what the trouble is - I would recommend that you take the lil fella 'egg encased and all,' to the vet asap, and let them get it out of the shell.  Hatching is a tiring process, but it certainly shouldn't take the struggling animal DAYS to emerge.  Something is wrong.

Unless you are positive that you won't damage the 'birthing' animal by trying to assist it - I'd suggest getting it professional help asap.

If you don’t already know of a qualified exotics/reptile vet in your area, google: “Herpetological Society” -or-

http://www.herpvetconnection.com/  for the one closest to you.

Good luck with the new guy, and I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  2. NOOOO leave it alone. !!!

Once the time comes, the hatchings will cut the egg shell with something called the egg tooth, which falls out about an hour later and never grows back.  If they don't feel secure, they will remain inside their shells.  Do not try to take them out until they have come out on their own. (they might not come out until the following day).   Once they come out, you will notice a small sack hanging out of their bellies. This is the yolk sac that fed them while they were incubating.  DO NOT try to remove this sac, trying to remove it can kill the baby turtle.  It is better to wait that it drops on its own.  Once it drops, you will notice a split in the plastron.  This will heal by itself too, you don't need to treat it.

Get feeder guppies for the lil guys under an inch and you may have to cut up there food..cause they are immaure..plus leafy green.

They need what their parents need, but they need land and water that barely covers their shell. They are babies and have to learn how to swim.

Remember hey need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system!

You need to feed them feeder guppies, for the protein and  calcium daily.

They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a

Plus a BIG tank 55 gallons or more..

  3. Reptiles take a while to come out of their shells. They will make holes in the shell and stick their heads out so they can breath but still stay in the shell because it is still absorbing the yoke. If they are removed before they are finished absorbing the yoke it could kill them or cause health problems. Usually they come out with in a day maybe 2.
