    Psychoanalysis, as developed by Freud as a therapeutic technique, can take months, if not years to see any "results".  

    Other psychotherapies typically work more quickly.  Cognitive Behavioral therapies, for instance, can often solve a problem in 6-12 sessions.  Pharmacological therapies can be effective very, very rapidly.  

    Other factors that affect how long therapeutic interventions take to work include the nature of your problem, your willingness to commit to the therapy, the accuracy of your diagnosis, and the skill of your clinician.
