I filed a small claims suit yesterday in California. Requested for a sheriff to deliver the notice to the defendant, the court date is for September 26. When do you think the sheriff will make the first delivery attempt?

  1. Next week...

  2. Sometimes it takes a while for the paperwork to get from the court/attorney/judge to the serving authority. Once it gets there, it SHOULD be served ASAP. But it most likely have to be "personal service". Meaning it has to be served on the defendant personally. It can't be left with just anyone. Finding the defendant so you can serve it on him is sometimes a problem. Especially if they don't want to be found.
