How long for check to clear from Saturday?

So I have a problem now, on Saturday I deposited a check from work. Normally in the past I have done the same with the same company check and it is cleared by Monday. Well I made some purchases over the weekend and those I had money already to cover them. So on Monday, thinking that my the check has clear I have the extra amount. I made some purchases(about $70) on Monday, now I look on online US bank and it says -$26 available. And $X from my check as funds. So it looks as if I overdrew. So I have a few questions, 1, As soon as I found this I deposited $100 into teh account after business hours. The purchase that I overdrew on is dated the 12th, tomorrow. So did I save myself from fees since the money will be posted the same day as the date on my overdrawn purchase? 2. If not how much could I expect in overdraft fees? This is my first time doing this. 3. Can I negotiate to remove the fees? 4. Can I bet on my paycheck clearing tomorrow and having access to the funds minus any fees they give me?

I know it's alot but I appreciate your comments.

  1. Since this is your first time with negative balance you will be able to do a refund.  Call your bank and ask to return an overdrawt fee. (It will be $39 probably)  If you covered your overdraft right away you might avoid this fee.  You can refund you overdraft fees 3 times a year I think.  Your check must be cleared today after 12am if not, call the bank and ask what's going on.  They MUST give you a refund, dont' worry it happened to me lot's of times :)

  2. I have tried to negotiate with banks on different occassions for the exact same situation. I deposited a check on Sat and also made some purchases the same day. When Monday came around, the bank had re-arranged them so that I would incur multiple overdraft fees, three of them to be exact for 33 a piece. I went into the bank to see if there was anything they could do and they just told me to manage my account better....no luck. After speaking with my attorney, and throughly reading my cardmember agreement, I discovered that they have the right to arrange the order of trancactions in any way they see fit. My advice to you next time is to go into the bank if you can. If the issuing bank of the check is the same as yours, they can typically do a direct transfer same day. If you belong to a large bank you can visit any branch and they should be able to assist you

  3. All sorts of things can cause a paycheck to not clear---why doesn't your account have overdraft protection?

Call the bank..and talk to whoever handles your account, if you're not prone to this, they may be able to waive fees.....

EDIT... NO,NO,NO,No hardball..that only makes people mad..

Be nice " I think I may have screwed this up....do you think you can fix it for me..."
