My brothers 1 year old cat, Gizmo, has been missing for 3 and a half weeks. He is/was an indoor/outdoor nuetered tom. We've done everything we can think of to find him (put posters up, phoned rescue centers and vets ect.). So i was just wondering what is the longest your cat has been missing ever and should i keep my hopes up that he will come back?

  1. The longest my cat was ever gone for was like 2 days...but I guess I just didn't see her.  I don't know if your cat will return.  1. Something  could have happened to him, sadly, like being ran over. 2. Someone could have found him and just won't return them because they love him.  I really don't know of anything you could do...I'm sorry though.  Good luck though...

  2. My cat recently went missing for a few days, ring your local cats protection league they can set out cat traps for your cat. Make posters, flyer your local area.

If you need help looking get the local kids to help you, i did this and one of the kiddies found her in their neighbours shed.

  3. Unfortunately some people see an indoor cat on the street and keep them, not realizing they belong to someone else. Try putting an ad in the local paper. Try to keep up the posters.

  4. My friends cat went missing for 1 month before he was found about 10km away by a council ranger.

He found his way back to them as (a) he had a collar and tag and (b) he was microchipped.

I hope this thought offers you some hope.

I truly hope Gizmo finds his way home somehow.

  5. Cats do this sometimes. One time when my wife and moved from our old house to our new house our cat ran alway from our new house and was missing for three months. One day when my wife went back to get some boxes out of our old house she thought that she saw our cat. Then after long three months our cat came back. We were very surprised.

  6. Cats can find their way home if they want to.... keep an eye out with the shelters and all....

  7. The longest my cat has been missing was 6 months and he returned safe and sound on his own. Keep checking at rescue centres and if you can, make some more posters and post them through doors. When you get him back put a quick release collar with a tag on him and you should get him microchipped if you haven't already so that if he gets out again you can have him returned to you. Best of luck x.

  8. dont give up hope.. my cat of 9 years ran away after our new staffy attacked her, like you i went to every house in the street, rang shelters everything, so we gave up.. over 3 months later she came home, she was really  skinny and was covered in like dirt and oil or something so i dont know where she had been but she came home..
