"Sunny D" has been running ads on T.V. a lot lately, saying they've been serving up sunshine since 1964.

I checked the ingredients, and it's basically water and high fructose corn syrup, the latter being extremely unhealthful.

From there, it contains FIVE PERCENT JUICE, not to mention sodium citrate, cellulose gum, xanthan gum, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium benzoate, yellow #5 and #6

There is a store that sells original recipe Dr. Pepper, and it's made with pure cane sugar - no artificial sweeteners - did they start doing this long before they had to list the ingredients on the label ?

  1. To my understanding it was sometime in the 70's that everything went from cane sugar to corn syrup. That's why it just doesn't taste quite the same. Where is this store that sells original recipe Dr. Pepper? I am a total Dr. Pepper freak!

I read DragonL's wikpedia answer but I still believe it was the 70"s when the majority of our food and for certain our soda pops etc. went to corn syrup.

  2. Yes, I'm sure they did. Just like they will begin to change the ingredients at fast food restaurants when they are required by FDA to put the caloric intake by the meal. Its going to happen again until people can see and know exactly what they are putting in there bodies.

  3. Most of the United States food & drinks have been packed with HFCS since the 70's. Believe it or not even ketchup, bread & V8 are made with corn syrup too. It is really bad for us & it ashamed that you cant even buy food with real sugar if you wanted too. The govt tries to tell us its safe, but thats only because its cheap for them.

  4. Since 1957.
