Put me down for almost double the answer of Dan_Ye.  I found real volleyball when I was a freshman in college.  I was dating a volleyball player and she encouraged me to visit her practices.  I started attending her practices and games.  I became the score flipper.  For one match, the referees could not make the match and both coaches asked if I would referee the match.  That was 1971.
